Sponsorship / Budget FY 17-18
The committee discussed current and future sponsorship arrangements extensively. It is likely that we may have a budget shortfall this financial year, but it really depends on how many sponsors we ultimately end up getting.
We also further discussed the “Community Sponsor” level for reInteractive (due to their running of the Rails Installfest events), agreeing to come up with a contract that clearly outlines what each party is bringing to the agreement.
Website Rebuild
We’ve hired Richie Khoo’s company Deming Factor to refine ruby.org.au. We’re looking forward to working with them.
We’re also continuing to build out our membership database features, with the aim of having this work complete before the next RubyConf AU tickets go on sale later this year. The membership database is a vital part of the association, as we are required under our Constitution to keep this information about our membership base.
Mailing address
We now have a new way of being able to contact the association: via actual physical mail. You can see our mailing address at https://ruby.org.au/contact.
RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) at Ruby AU events
General Member Caitlin Palmer-Bright has been doing some research into our compliance with RSA laws around the country when it comes to running our Ruby AU events. She’s not-quite-done on this research just yet, so we’ll probably have more news on that front about that next committee meeting.
If we do not comply with RSA laws around the country then we may be liable to be fined thousands of dollars, so this is vital work.
