We’ll include info here on things to bring, transport, things to do if you are staying longer in Perth.
WHERE IS IT
The camp will be held at the beautiful Woodman Point Camp not far from Perth.
It seems to be a lovely site. If you are planning to stay for more days than the camp, there is plenty to do in the area.
GETTING THERE
We have organised a bus to Woodman Point that will leave Perth airport on Friday at 3pm with a stop at Perth Train Station and at the Cockburn Shopping Centre (so you can buy snacks or alcohol if desired). If you are flying to Perth and want to catch the bus, we recommend arranging a flight that arrives no later than 2pm. On the Monday the bus will leave camp at 10am and get to the Perth airport by midday with a stop along the way at the Perth Train Station. If you are flying from Perth and want to catch the bus, we recommend choosing a flight that leaves no earlier than 1pm.
If you haven’t already filled it out, there is a bus booking form to get a seat on the bus from the airport or train station to camp.
WHAT NOT TO BRING
The camp provides a mattress and pillow and there will be sheets, pillowcases, blankets and towels.
WHAT TO BRING
We took some of the list from the camp website and some from past Rails Camps and got:
-
Some warm clothes – Perth can get cold at night!
-
Extra bedding (while bedding will be provided, it might be worth popping in a sleeping bag or an extra blanket if you feel the cold)
-
Bathers
-
Any medications you take regularly
-
Toothbrush & Toiletries
-
Earplugs
-
Alcoholic beverages of choice (the camp has given us permission to drink alcohol while food is served)
-
Snacks that you can’t live without (the catering will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner, morning and afternoon tea and supper)
-
Laptop
-
Chargers
-
Powerboard
-
Any data, files etc. that you’d normally rely on getting from the Internet
If you can think of anything else that should be added to the list, tell us in the comments or send us a message.

ROOMS AT CAMP
Here is a map to the dorms at Woodman Point.
Room 4 is reserved.
Rooms 11 and 12 are reserved for snorers .
Each room should have four bunk beds and two single beds. There are enough rooms that we don’t have to use both levels of any of the bunks, so feel free to spread out or bunch up as much as you like.
